In March 2022, Technology Solutions transitioned to a more robust anti-virus solution by implementing 700 antivirus licenses for the servers. It is now time to extend this ant-virus solution to the remaining portion of the City's computer network. This additional purchase will add 2300 more licenses to standardize the antivirus system by implementing the same solution to all end user computer systems.
This purchase, if approved, will provide a NextGen antivirus solution through cloud-delivered endpoint protection. Additionally, this technology will provide a 24/7 malware detection and response service for the City of Plano. As a result, this technology will save the City of Plano time and money while implementing a multi-layered approach to deliver superior security services and improve the City of Plano’s security posture.
With the City’s efforts to provide enhanced cyber-security capabilities and protections, we recommend that this purchase is considered a high priority. If the City of Plano does not approve this purchase, the City will be at an elevated risk due to our inability to detect, monitor, respond, prevent, and protect endpoints from threats.
The City is authorized to purchase from a cooperative purchasing program with another local government or a local cooperative organization pursuant to Chapter 271 Subchapter F of the Texas Local Government Code and by doing so satisfies any State Law requiring local governments to seek competitive bids for items.
