| | | | | | | | ITEM SUMMARY RFB No. 2022-0622-B for Downtown Parking Lots Phase 2, Project No. 6993, for the Engineering Department to Jim Bowman Construction Company, L.P. in the amount of $699,293; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all necessary documents. Approved

| | | | | | | | BACKGROUND The Engineering Department opened bids on December 13, 2022 for the Downtown Parking Lots Phase 2 project. The project includes the following:
- Improvements to the walkway on the south side of the City of Plano Municipal Center that include a widened brick sidewalk, added lighting, landscaping and new dumpster enclosures, and provide added safety and accessibility between the Municipal Center parking lot and K Avenue/Downtown Plano area.
- A crosswalk crossing 14th Street at J Place, including barrier-free ramps, signage, and crosswalk markings.
- Walkway improvements at DART’s Parker Road Station that will provide a safe pedestrian access to the properties east of the station.
The lowest responsive and responsible bid was submitted by Jim Bowman Construction Company, L.P., in the amount of $699,293. There were a total of 1,619 vendors notified of this project. One (1) complete bid was received for the project as shown in the attached bid recap.
If this project is not awarded, the result is reduced ease of access by the public to the Municipal Center parking lot, continuation of a dangerous pedestrian crossing on 14th Street at J Place and prevention of the public’s ability to safely access the DART Parker Road Station from the east. All of these constraints would result in continued safety concerns for pedestrians utilizing these areas of Plano and a reduction in the quality of life for residents and visitors to these locations. |
| | | | | | | | FINANCIAL SUMMARY/STRATEGIC GOALS Funding for construction services, in the amount of $699,293, is available in the 2022-23 TIF II Fund budget.
Approval of this item supports the City's Strategic Plan Critical Success Factor of Multi-Modal Transportation and Mobility Solutions. |
