| | | | | | | | BACKGROUND The Engineering Department opened bids on January 24, 2023 for the 10th Street Paving and Water Line Reconstruction– N Avenue to Jupiter Road, Project No. 7343. The project includes removal and replacement of 3,525 linear feet of full-width collector street pavement, sidewalks, driveways, barrier free ramps, 1,320 linear feet of water line, and improvements to the existing, undersized, drainage system along 10th Street that results in minor, localized flooding during rain events.
The lowest responsive and responsible bid was submitted by McMahon Contracting and Construction, LLC dba McMahon Contracting, L.P., in the amount of $4,432,023. There were a total of 1,683 vendors notified of this project. Thirteen (13) complete bids were received for the project as shown in the attached bid recap.
If this project is not awarded, it would result in continued deterioration of existing street pavement, sidewalks, and antiquated water lines. The undersized drainage system will continue to cause localized flooding within the 10th Street right of way. All of these continued conditions will result in increased maintenance costs in the future and a reduction of the quality of conducting business operations for companies located directly on 10th Street and the surrounding area. |
| | | | | | | | FINANCIAL SUMMARY/STRATEGIC GOALS Funding for this item is available in the 2022-23 Street Improvements CIP and Water CIP and is planned in both funds for future years, as well. Construction services for the 10th Street Paving and Water Line Reconstruction project, in the total estimated amount of $4,432,023, will leave a current year balance of $65,889 for future project expenditures.
Approval of this item will support the City's Strategic Plan Critical Success Factor of being an Excellent, Innovative, and Accountable City Government. |
