| | | | | | | | BACKGROUND Westside Connector is a thirty-two-foot-wide to forty-four-foot wide collector street running east-west from its intersection with Plano Parkway to its intersection with Preston Road with adjoining commercial and multifamily residential land uses.
Eastside Connector is a thirty-six-foot-wide collector street running east-west from its intersection with Preston Road to its intersection with Plano Parkway with adjoining commercial land uses.
Westside Connector and Eastside Connector are marked as only one lane in each direction and on-street parking on both sides of the roadways creates a safety issue.
Large trailers and semi-trucks are illegally parking on a regular basis on the Westside Connector and Eastside Connector roadways.
The Transportation Engineering Division of the City of Plano recommends an amendment to a certain section of the Code of Ordinances to establish no parking zones along both the north and south sides of Westside Connector and Eastside Connector, within the city limits of the City of Plano in order to provide for the safety of the general public within the area. |
| | | | | | | | FINANCIAL SUMMARY/STRATEGIC GOALS This item may impact revenue collected from parking fines due to the implementation of parking restrictions; however, the exact change in revenue is indeterminable and will have minimal impact on the General Fund budget.
Approval of this item to establish parking restrictions along the Eastside and Westside Connectors supports the City's Strategic Plan Critical Success Factor of Safe, Vibrant Neighborhoods. |
