ITEM SUMMARY

BACKGROUND

The Parks and Recreation Department opened bids on January 19, 2023 for the Russell Creek Park McDermott Road Entrance Drive Replacement Project No. 7495. This project includes removing and replacing the main entry drive into Russell Creek Park from McDermott to the parking lot entry. The stabilizing subgrade originally installed in 1995 has failed, causing major deterioration of the concrete drive. The existing drive must be replaced and the subgrade re-stabilized.

The lowest responsive and responsible bid was submitted by Jim Bowman Construction Company, L.P., in the amount of $615,114. There was a total of one thousand three hundred and seventy-six (1,376) vendors notified of this project. Seven (7) complete bids were received for the project as shown in the attached bid recap.

The benefit of this project includes reduced maintenance costs associated with aging infrastructure, replacement of a failing concrete drive. Not approving the expenditure will result in continued and worsening concrete deterioration/road conditions for park users.
