This agreement, if approved, would allow the City of Plano and Collin County Community College District to share their existing fiber optic cabling and physical pathways with one another. This agreement would allow the City to take advantage of existing fiber owned by the College which would reduce the cost to the City of Plano and its taxpayers. This new agreement would replace the existing ILA to favor a mutual sharing agreement that will no longer come at a financial cost to either entity.
If the City of Plano does not approve the agreement, it will continue to pay annual costs related to maintenance on fiber it does not own and will accept the risk of having to pay for new future fiber installations.
