The Parks and Recreation Department opened bids on March 2, 2023 for the Hoblitzelle Park Trail Extension at Hedgcoxe Road – Phase 2 project.
Located just south of Allen between Hedgcoxe Road and Georgetown Drive, the project addresses an existing connectivity gap along Hoblitzelle Park Trail. The project will install a 12-foot wide trail connection extending approximately 0.25 miles from the sidewalk of Hedgcoxe Road to Georgetown Drive. The northern end of the project will tie in on the east side of Russell Creek then travel southeast through Hoblitzelle Park, tying in to existing trail at Georgetown Drive and Crescent Creek Lane. In addition, the project comprises storm drainage, and retaining walls. The City of Allen has acquired land and has begun construction plans to complete the existing gap within their city limits between the north side of Hedgcoxe and the east side of Custer.
The lowest responsive and responsible bid was submitted by North Rock Construction LLC in the amount of $988,777. There were a total of 1,705 vendors notified of this project. Eleven complete bids were received for the project as shown in the attached bid recap.
If this project is not awarded, the existing gap between Hedgcoxe Road and Georgetown Drive will remain. The project completes the connection and is crucial to the continuity of Hoblitzelle Park Trail between Plano and Allen.
