| | | | | | | | BACKGROUND The Parks and Recreation Department opened bids on March 16, 2023 for the Plano Event Center Courtyard Redevelopment, Project No. 7144.1. The project is a complete renovation of the outdoor courtyard space including hardscape paving, site lighting, site furniture, shade structures, fireplace, audio/visual equipment and connections, utility adjustments, new fencing and entry gates, landscape planting beds, tree plantings, and reconfiguration of the irrigation system. The renovation project will significantly expand upon programmable and rentable outdoor space for events at the Plano Event Center.
The lowest responsive and responsible bid was submitted by The Fain Group, Inc., in the amount of $3,233,380. There was a total of one thousand three hundred thirty-seven (1,337) vendors notified of this project. Three (3) complete bids were received for the project as shown in the attached bid recap.
The benefit of this project is the addition of improved business opportunities in a beautifully renovated outdoor space for events and other gatherings. The renovation will provide extensive shaded areas and expanded hardscape to accommodate receptions, break-out sessions, impromptu meetings, weddings, live entertainment, special occasions, and more.
Failure to approve this item will result in continued underutilization of the outdoor courtyard space and an inability to support larger events. |
| | | | | | | | FINANCIAL SUMMARY/STRATEGIC GOALS Funding for this item is available in the 2022-23 Capital Maintenance Fund and is planned for future years, as well. Construction services for the Plano Event Center Outdoor Courtyard Redevelopment project, in the total estimated amount of $3,233,380, will leave a current year balance of $34,254 for future project expenditures.
Approval of this item will support the City's Strategic Plan Critical Success Factor of being an Excellent, Innovative, and Accountable City Government. |
