The Engineering Department recommends approval of Change Order No. 3 for the increase in the construction contract with Jim Bowman Construction Company, L.P., in the amount of $828,598, for the Intersection Improvements – Park Boulevard at Coit Road, Custer Road, Alma Drive, K Avenue, and Jupiter Road Project.

Change Order No. 3 includes the additional costs associated with current main lane pavement determined to need replacement at both Park Boulevard and Alma Drive, and Park Boulevard and K Avenue. This change order also includes changes to the construction phasing at the intersection of Park Boulevard and Coit Road, and other miscellaneous site changes necessary at each intersection to avoid unforeseen utility conflicts and adjustments for existing site conditions.

Change Order 1 was executed on 5/26/2021, to increase the contract by $77,874 for a total contract amount of $4,284,192.

Change Order 2 was executed on 9/21/2021, to increase the contract by $85,981 for a total contract amount of $4,370,173.

If this change order is not approved, it would result in continued maintenance and associated costs, future delays associated with replacement of deteriorating pavement, and decreased safety for motorists and pedestrians using these five intersections.

Funding for this item is available in the 2022-23 Street Improvements CIP.  The third change order for the Intersection Improvements - Park Boulevard at Coit Road, Custer Road, Alma Drive, K Avenue & Jupiter Road project, in the total estimated amount of $828,598, will leave a project balance of $8,665 for future expenditures.
