ITEM SUMMARY

RFB No. 2022-0541-B for Multi-Campus Site Lighting Upgrades, Project No. FAC-F-7491, for the Engineering Department to Groves Electrical Service, Inc. in the amount of $191,404; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all necessary documents. Approved 

BACKGROUND

The Engineering Department opened bids on June 08, 2023 for the Multi-Campus Site Lighting Upgrades at Oak Point Recreation Center, Haggard Library and Schimelpfenig Library.  This project consists of replacing parking lot pole lights with LED energy efficient lights. 

 

There are two (2) add alternates; to add wall mounted LED light fixtures at Oak Point Recreation Center and to replace the light poles in lieu of refinishing and painting existing poles at the Haggard Library.

 

The lowest responsive and responsible bid was submitted by Groves Electrical Service, Inc., in the amount of $191,404.  There were a total of 959 vendors notified and 5 vendor complete bids were received for the project as shown in the attached bid recap.

Oak Point Recreation Base: $26,230.00 Add Alternate: $19,750.00 TOTAL: $45,980.00

If this project is not awarded, the result is continued deterioration of the existing fixtures and poles, resulting in increased maintenance and energy costs for the City and a negative impact on the quality of life for surrounding residents.

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY/STRATEGIC GOALS

Funding for this item is available in the 2022-23 Library Facilities CIP and Park Improvements CIP and is planned for 2023-24, as well.  The replacement of parking lot pole lights with LED energy efficient lights at Oak Point Recreation Center, Haggard Library, and Schimelpfenig Library, along with added alternates at Oak Point Recreation Center and Haggard Library, in the total estimated amount of $191,404, will leave a combined balance of $184,016 for future expenditures.
