Adopted Ordinance No. 2023-7-6 |
| | | | | | | | BACKGROUND The Transportation Engineering Division performs routine evaluations of school zones in the City in addition to evaluations requested by citizens.
Based on evaluations, Transportation Engineering staff determined that certain school zones on 14th Street, Alma Drive, Ohio Drive, Rigsbee Drive, and Tennyson Parkway are no longer required due to lack of pedestrian activities within the school zones and/or the presence of traffic and pedestrian signals.
Transportation Engineering staff found that students cross Mollimar Drive adjacent to the school, not at its intersections with 15th Street or Independence Parkway, and recommend to shorten the school zone.
Transportation Engineering staff reached out to the Plano Independent School District, and they are in support of the proposed revisions.
The Transportation Engineering Division recommends an amendment to Section 12-73 (d) of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Plano, Texas to remove certain school zones on 14th Street, Alma Drive, Ohio Drive, Rigsbee Drive, and Tennyson Parkway and to shorten the school zone on Mollimar Drive.
