To approve an expenditure for the purchase of twelve (12) LUCAS chest compression devices in the estimated amount of $305,214 from Stryker Corporation for Plano Fire-Rescue; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all necessary documents. Approved

Plano Fire-Rescue is seeking approval to purchase twelve (12) replacement Stryker LUCAS chest compression devices used for mechanical cardiopulmonary resuscitation.  If approved, these devices will be placed on our front-line Medic Units. Stryker is the sole source vendor for the LUCAS chest compression device.

The estimated amount for this expenditure is $305,214. Funding is available in the Fire Equipment Replacement Fund. 

Failure to award the purchase will result in Plano Fire-Rescue not having these devices on our Medic Units.  These units will need to be replaced at a later date.

The city is exempt from the competitive bid process for this purchase allowed by Texas Local Government Code Chapter 252
Subchapter B Section 252.022 (a)(7)(A). (City of Plano Contract No. 2024-0013-X)

Funds for this item are available in the FY 2023-24 Fire Equipment Replacement Fund budget. The purchase of (12) Stryker LUCAS chest compression devices, in the estimated amount of $305,214, will leave a current year balance of $990,815 for future equipment replacement expenditures.
