PREVIOUS ACTION/PRESENTATION

On July 24, 2023, City Council awarded a bid in the amount of $ 2,730,300 for Arterial Concrete Repair Midway Road - Spring Creek Parkway to Park Boulevard, Project No. PW-S-00007 to Talbran Enterprises LLC.

BACKGROUND

This change order is for additional quantities of arterial concrete repair, identified in the field, by Public Works staff. The project was designed in the fall of 2022 utilizing street condition scores to estimate pavement removal quantity.  During construction, additional pavement rehabilitation was identified by the City inspector to prepare the pavement for a future overlay. The contractor will hold current prices and no additional working days will be needed to complete the project as scheduled.

If this change order is not awarded at Council, these areas will not be repaired, which will result in elevated maintenance and replacement costs in the future. In addition, a planned future Overlay Project for summer of 2024 will be delayed.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY/STRATEGIC GOALS

Funding for this item is available in the 2023-24 Street Improvements CIP.  The first change order for the Arterial Concrete Repair Midway Road - Spring Creek Parkway to Park Boulevard project, in the total amount of $682,290, will leave a project balance of $134,100 for future expenditures.

Approval of this item will support the City's Strategic Plan Critical Success Factor of being an Excellent, Innovative, and Accountable City Government.
