ITEM SUMMARY

RFB No. 2024-0457-B for Building No. 62 Plano Event Center Fire Alarm System Replacement, Project No. FAC-F-7638, for the Engineering Department to Texas Fire & Sound, Inc. in the amount of $344,343; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all necessary documents. Approved

BACKGROUND

The Engineering Department opened bids on July 9, 2024, for Building No. 62 Plano Event Center Fire Alarm System Replacement, Project No. FAC-F-7638.

 

The lowest responsive and responsible bid was submitted by Texas Fire & Sound, Inc. in the amount of $344,343. There were a total 1,548 vendors notified of this project. One (1) complete responsive bid was received for the project as shown in the attached bid recap.

 

The Fire alarm system is 34 years old and at the end of its life expectancy and software is no longer supported by the manufacturer. If not approved a failure of the existing system could result in not being able to maintain required Fire and safety code requirements for the building.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY/STRATEGIC GOALS

Funding for this item is planned for the 2024-25 Capital Maintenance Fund.  Construction services for Building No. 62 Plano Event Center Fire Alarm System Replacement project, in the total amount of $344,343, will leave a balance of $5,657 for future expenditures.

 

Approval of this item will support the City's Strategic Plan Critical Success Factor of being an Excellent, Innovative, and Accountable City Government.
