| | | | | | | | BACKGROUND The Parks and Recreation Department opened bids on June 25, 2024 for Bob Woodruff Park South Restroom Replacement, Project No. PKR-P-00005. The project is to demolish the existing restroom building and construct a new restroom outside of the floodplain. The existing restroom building was built in 1985 and is no longer ADA compliant. As development has increased in the watershed, the 100-year floodplain has risen, and the existing structure is now within the floodplain. The proposed restroom building will be located nearby, out of the floodplain, and be fully accessible and compliant with all current codes. Project scope also includes the installation of new utilities, fire hydrants, fire lane, parking lot lighting and site restoration.
The lowest responsive and responsible bid was submitted by CGC General Contractors, Inc. in the amount of $1,156,967. There was a total of 2,077 vendors notified of this project. Nine (9) complete bids were received for the project as shown in the attached bid recap.
The benefit of this project is providing a new, fully accessible structure that is compliant with all building codes, outside of the floodplain. The additional provision of fire hydrants, fire lane, and lighting will allow for increased safety for residents and first responders alike.
Failure to approve this item could result in continued limited use of an aging facility at risk of inundation, requiring increased maintenance costs in years to come. |
| | | | | | | | FINANCIAL SUMMARY/STRATEGIC GOALS Funding for this item is available in the 2023-24 Park Improvements CIP and is planned for future years, as well. Construction services for the Bob Woodruff Park South Restroom Replacement project, in the total estimated amount of $1,156,967, will leave a balance of $433,341 for future expenditures.
Approval of this item will support the City's Strategic Plan Critical Success Factor of being an Excellent, Innovative, and Accountable City Government. |
