As electronic document management becomes increasingly important, the demand for Adobe products has risen steadily.
City employees rely on Adobe Acrobat Pro for a variety of crucial tasks. This software allows for the creation and editing of electronic documents, the conversion of scanned forms into searchable text for easy retrieval, and the streamlining of approvals with electronic signatures.
Furthermore, the Adobe Creative Cloud suite empowers various departments and various roles across the City with a powerful toolkit. This suite includes applications for design, video editing, photo editing, and web design. These tools are used to create marketing materials, training content, educational resources, and publications for all platforms – print, digital, and social media.
Technology Solutions recommends purchasing an Adobe Enterprise License Agreement from Dell Marketing LP under TX DIR-TSO-3763 for $225,299 (Year 1) with automatic renewals for two additional years. The contract establishes licensing costs for the life of the agreement, and we are estimating a 5% annual increase in licenses, resulting in estimated annual costs of $236,564 (FY 2024-25) and $248,392 (FY 2025-26).
By not approving this request, this would directly affect employee’s ability to work efficiently and produce high-quality output, leading employees to use different software or manual methods that may produce varying results and hinder the way we work with the public and information requests.
The City is authorized to purchase from the State Contract list pursuant to Chapter 271 Subchapter D of the Texas Local Government Code and by doing so satisfies any State Law requiring local governments to seek competitive bids for items.
