ITEM SUMMARY

RFB No. 2024-0466-B for Hoblitzelle Park East Renovation, Project No. PKR-P-7023, for the Parks and Recreation Department to Cole Construction, Inc. in the amount of $1,083,966; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all necessary documents. Approved

BACKGROUND

The Parks and Recreation Department opened bids on July 30, 2024, for Hoblitzelle Park East Renovation, Project No. PKR-P-7023. The project aims to replace aging park features, including installing a new playground and play pit, creating a looped walking path with lighting, installing trees and irrigation, and ensuring ADA accessibility compliance.

The lowest responsive and responsible bid was submitted by Cole Construction, Inc. in the amount of $1,083,966. Twelve (12) complete bids were received for the project as shown in the attached bid recap.

The renovation will provide numerous benefits: upgraded park walkways and a playground to meet current accessibility and code standards, a new irrigation system to support healthy trees and turf, improved lighting for a safer environment, new play equipment with an integral shade structure for enhanced protection from the sun, and additional benches along trails and the playground as requested by the community.

If the project is not awarded, the park amenities and features will remain non-compliant with current accessibility and safety standards. The aging play equipment, which is beyond its life cycle, will not be maintainable to manufacturer safety standards and may need to be removed without replacement.
