| | | | | | | | BACKGROUND The Engineering Department recommends approval of an expenditure in the amount of $159,800 for engineering professional services from Teague Nall and Perkins, Inc., for the Downtown Improvements – 15th Street and K Avenue. This project includes the design for a mid-block pedestrian crossing on 15th Street, located between the DART railroad tracks and K Avenue, improvements to the alley in this area, and the development of a pocket park at the southeast corner of the 15th Street and K Avenue intersection.
Teague Nall and Perkins, Inc., was deemed most qualified based on their Statement of Qualifications submission for RFQ No. 2021-0377-XR Civil Design and based on previous engineering experience with the City of Plano, including but not limited to the Maumelle Drive & Daybreak Trail improvements and the reconstruction of Commerce Drive.
The benefits of this project include improved pedestrian safety and increased downtown vibrancy.
Not approving the expenditure would result in considerable challenges improving pedestrian safety, accessibility, and community enhancement in the downtown area. |
